Tour de Delta is now the richest event in Canadian cycling. We are proud to partner in 2009 with Tour de White Rock to give you 2 weekends and 6 great days of cycling action!

Tour de Delta kicks off with the MK Delta PrologueFriday July 10, 6:30 pm in the Social Heart area of North Delta. Starting at 6:30 pm cyclists will blast off down a steel ramp onto the lightning quick course. Considered "the race of truth", cyclists compete against the clock at speeds up to 60 kph! Riders use special time trial bikes, designed for speed, not comfort. Come & marvel at the unique equipment used to win this exciting stage.

Tour de Delta - Brenco CRITERIUM garrett

 July 10, 11 & 12, 2009 Tour de Delta will feature both local cyclists and professional racers from around the world competing for a $25,000 prize purse! Tour de Delta is now the richest event in Canadian cycling. We are proud to partner in 2009 with Tour de White Rock to give you 2 weekends and 6 great days of cycling action!

The fast and furious Brenco CRITERIUM at 5:00 pm Saturday July 11 takes place in the historic fishing village of Ladner. The crit will excite all who attend as cyclists manipulate the tight corners of the downtown core. Watch the competitors complete lap after lap at breakneck speeds while they race for cash prizes and valuable series points.

The grueling White Spot ROAD RACE 9:00 am Sunday July 12 hits the communities of North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen. The men's race begins at Sungod in North Delta & ends at Winskill Park in Tsawwassen. The start & end for the women is at Winskill Park. This makes for a frantic sprint finish as racers cross the line at speeds up to 60 kph. The road race is now part of the BC Cup racing series.

Suitcase Theatre presents a two week workshop on Shakespeare's Stories and helps re-create scenes from this historical era. Students will learn to appreciate the language and develop characters with status and poser. Students will also be introduced into the basic elements of stage combat. By the end of the series, students will have created a presentation that helps discover Shakespeare's words in an imaginative scene.

The Business Improvement Association (BIA) of Tsawwassen has announced the return of last summer's inaugural outdoor movie nights in Tsawwassen. All families, seniors and youth are invited to attend these free nights of fun and entertainment. Dates for 2009 are Saturdays August 8 & 22 and September 5.

The movies will be shown at Diefenbaker Park on August 8 and September 5 and at the Town Centre Mall on August 22 combined with the Block Party. The G-rated movies are shown on a three-story high inflatable screen. The events are all free and guests are asked to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and flashlights. In case of extreme weather conditions the events will be rescheduled.
